A cultural visit organised by the CSHR of the Faculty of Law to Galle provides our international students with a rich experience of Sri Lanka’s history, architecture, and coastal traditions. Situated in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka, Galle is renowned for its well-preserved Dutch and British colonial heritage as well as its vibrant local culture. During this trip, students will have the opportunity to explore Galle Fort, which offers stunning views of the Indian Ocean, as well as museums showcasing its historical legacy and Buddhist temples. Additionally, students experienced traditional Sri Lankan fishing practices, handicrafts, and cuisine, indulging in authentic dishes from the Southern Province. This visit to Galle not only deepens students’ understanding of the country’s colonial history but also allows them to appreciate its local coastal practices and natural and cultural heritage.
