Sinhala and Tamil New Year Celebration with APMA Students

The Sinhala and Tamil New Year is among the most important cultural festivals in Sri Lanka, signifying the sun’s transition from Pisces to Aries and marking the commencement of the traditional New Year. Celebrated by both the Sinhala and Tamil communities, this festival emphasises unity, renewal, and the nation’s rich cultural heritage. Organised by the CSHR, this event aims to introduce international students to Sri Lankan traditions and foster cross-cultural understanding. One highlight of the celebration of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year event was the opportunity for international students to enjoy traditional Sri Lankan food.
